Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking

del.icio.us is something I’ve heard of, but never really took a look at until this class. I’m still not 100% sure of how it works, but seems like a useful tool for someone who may work out of different offices on different computers. I hope our IM dept. doesn’t block del.icio.us as a social networking site like blogs. While I can read the class instructions at work, I have to do my blogging and reading of blogs at home.

The use of the bolder, darker colors with the number of people bookmarking topics in del.icio.us is a good way to see what subjects people are most interested in. While it seems to be a useful took in the educational setting of say a school group, I don’t know if the crowd at work would spend time looking at the book marks. They tend to be focused on a specific topic and don’t want to spend more time on something than they have to.

I guess I’m going to be spending more time this week looking at the various references on social bookmarking and see how it can be applied in the hospital setting.

Thing #1

Using technology for learning is probably the easiest for me as i tend to embrace new technologies. The hardest is 7.5, "playing". Sometimes i tend to focus on the task and not always enjoy it or use it as learning experience.
